1. Introduction

1.1 Introduction to BinarySoft BDI

BinarySoft BDI™ is the ultimate interface to Betfair and Tradefair. Clean, professional and ultra-fast: BDI will transform the way you view and trade markets on betting exchanges.

BDI uses binary prices to present a unified interface to Betfair and Tradefair, with seamless switching between markets from the two exchanges. Binary prices are much better suited for trading than decimal odds and are also the most natural and intuitive way of expressing odds.

BDI has been designed for maximum performance and is compatible with any operating system which supports Java, including all recent versions of Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. All communication between BDI and Betfair is secure via SSL encryption.

BinarySoft BDI is a Betfair Official API Solution.

1.2 The Java Platform

BDI has been designed for the Java™ platform, version 5 or higher. It has also been fully optimised to work with Java 6 and relies on many of the new features of the platform. The main advantage of Java is that it is supported by a wide range of operating systems, so the layout of the interface and the feature set of BDI is the same across all platforms and computers.

BDI makes use of a technology known as Java Web Start. Each time the program is run it checks the BinarySoft website to see if a new version of BDI is available and if so, downloads the latest copy. This provides a quick and automatic way of ensuring your copy of BDI is always up to date.

Java is currently available for all recent versions of Microsoft Windows (Windows 98 onwards), Mac OS X (v10.4 "Tiger" onwards), Linux and Solaris.
